Condition for long life and perfect function of the torch is to check regularly the function of the torch. Additionally to the visual check before every welding, there should be made regularly maintenance work and cleaning. We recommend this once a week at one shift working. Maintenance and cleaning should be done only by authorized persons. Replace any damaged, deformed or worn parts immediately. If repairs are necessary contact your local Translas dealer. Check TIG welding torch if: - All parts are undamaged and in the correct place. - Electrode and fastening parts are undamaged and properly fastened. If surface of tungsten electrode is not smooth, the electrode should be grinded. - Flow of shielding gas is free and even. - Gas nozzle is in good condition. - Suction head is in good condition Check cable assembly if: - Insulation of handle and torch cable are undamaged. - All power, coolant and gas connections are clean and fastened. - Extraction hose show no external damage such as cracks or (fire-) holes. - There are no sharp bends in torch cable (or hose). Tips for grinding the electrode The surface condition of the electrode determines the consistency of the current density and direction of the arc. Electrodes must always be ground in longitudinal direction. The type of electrode and angle of sharpening depends on the material you want to weld. For professional grinding please consult your local dealer. Purchase of wear parts The most important and common wear parts are given in the tables on the following pages. For ordering or locating omitted components, please contact your local Translas dealer.www.translas.com 11 Consumables: 7. Problem solutions PROBLEMPOSSIBLE CAUSESOLUTION No or bad smoke extraction - Extraction unit is noty working properly. - Extraction flow is less than 17m3/h. - Filter of the extraction unit is contaminated. - Extraction parts on torch has been damaged. - Check extraction unit and it’s manual. - Increase extraction flow on extraction unit - Change or clean filter in the extraction unit. - Check inside and outside hose. Also do not forget to consult the operating instructions of your welding machine and the technical details of the respective suppliers for tungsten electrodes, gas, basic and additional materials etc. 8. Shipment, storage and disposal This welding equipment has been carefully checked and packaged before shipment. However, as damage may have occurred during shipping, please check package and components for damage through visual inspection. If package and/or equipment has been damaged contact last shipping agent immediately and keep (damaged) package for possible inspection. Use original package for returning equipment. The ambient temperature for shipment and storage is: -25 ºC to + 55 ºC Relative humidity of the air: up to 90% at a temperature of 20 ºC Torch must be disposed according to European and/or local environmental regulations. Our torches are mainly made of steel, plastics and non-ferrous metal. Next >
