These units have been specifically developed to operate best with the 7XE Extractor torches from Translas. In order to ensure a long-life cycle, please read these instructions carefully.www.translas.com 3 This manual is only for the experienced user. Do not allow un- trained persons to install, handle or maintain the Clear02 units or Translas torches. Extraction units must be checked regularly to guarantee optimum life expectancy. The user is fully responsible for possible defects arising out of misuse, inadequate maintenance, damage, poor repairs, or mo- difications by other parties than the original manufacturer or his authorized dealers. The unit will give most optimum results when used with the 7XE Extractor from Translas. Ensure that you read the instructions of the welding torch thoroughly before using the Clear02 unit. The manufacturer reserves the right, whenever necessary and without prior notice, to amend these instructions because of clerical or printing errors, incorrect information, or the ad- dition of improvements. This Declaration of Conformity ceases to be valid: - If the machinery is not used in conformity with its intended use - If the technical design is changed or the machinery is modified without our consent Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when servicing the machine. Specific requirements are to be determined by applicable regulations, dust toxicity testing and your workplace policies. As a general rule, gloves, dust mask and safety goggles are recommended to prevent exposure to or inhalation of dust. Some dusts collected from welding and related processes can be haz- ardous. The factory is responsible to test for toxicity and determining precautions for emptying and disposing hazardous waste. The machine is not designed to fil- ter gases, odors or noxious fumes. This filtration machine is not approved for filtration of Carcino- genic, Mutagenic, or Reproduc- tively-harmful (CMR) substances. The machine unit is not designed for use in explosive atmospheres, potentially explosive atmospheres, or for extracting substances from such atmospheres. Neither is it intended to process substance which could create an explosive or potentially explosive atmosphere inside the machine. If the dust to be extracted may create afore- mentioned conditions, it must be sampled and tested for explosivity. Temporary varying sound values are valued according to DIN 45641. The indicated sound pressure levels are valid for the non-throttled operation of the plant, i.e. 100 % fan output. 2.1 Application IMPORTANT Intended use W100-W400 is designed solely for filtering welding or soldering fumes. Any other or additional use is deemed to be improper. The machine may not be used for extracting: - Aluminum grinding dust - Welding fumes containing oil mist - Combustible or potentially explosive atmospheres Blazing flames - Glowing particles Liquid media Moreover, the machine may not be used as a vacuum cleaner or for extracting sanding dust. Conforming use also includes the following points: - Observing and compliance with this assembly and/or operating manual. - Observing and compliance of the assembly and/or operating manual from the manufacturer of supplier parts. - Compliance with the operating data (section “Technical data”). - No modification of the machine without the prior written consent of us. Liability for damage and losses resulting from non-conforming use of the plant rests ex- clusively with the owner/operator of the plant.www.translas.com 6 In addition, non-compliance with the plant’s conforming use will result in the following consequences: ▷ Warranty will cease to be valid ▷ The declaration of conformity will cease to be valid ▷ The declarations of incorporation of partly completed machinery will likewise cease to be valid. 2.2 Electric connection IMPORTANT Electrical connections must be checked prior to commissioning the machine for the first time and tightened if necessary! Voltage variances more than plus/minus 10 % are not permitted. Installation of supply connections may only be carried out by appropriately trained qualified personnel who have knowledge of the requirements of local power supply companies and who also apply that knowledge. Regulations of current valid national directives are to be observed for the connection of the plant/ machine. 2.3 Operating pressure and compressed air IMPORTANT An operating pressure of at least 4 bar (max. 6 bar) in the compressed air tank is re- quired. At ambient temperatures below 0 ºC the service unit and control valve must be insulated to be frost-proof. The quality of the compressed air used must comply with the specification of ISO 8573-1. At locations outside Germany, the corresponding regulations in the respective country must be observed! Nevertheless, danger to life or limb of the operator or third parties and/or damage to the ma- chine and other property may occur because of using the machine. ▷ Only use the machine in a technically perfect condition and in accordance with regulations, in a safety- and risk-conscious manner under observation of the operating instructions. ▷ Any faults that may restrict safety must be rectified immediately. Any alterations or modifications to the machine are forbidden unless explicitly approved by us in writing. Non-compliance results in warranty invalidation. 3.1. Staff/Operator Qualified personnel may only undertake work on the machine. The owner may only entrust independent operation or maintenance of the machine to persons who ▷ have reached the age of 18 ▷ are physically and mentally suitable ▷ can be expected to discharge their assigned tasks reliably ▷ have been instructed about operation and maintenance of the machine and have proved their aptitude to the owner.www.translas.com 8 In addition to providing theoretical knowledge, instruction also includes the opportunity to acquire sufficient practical experience, as well as to acquire the ability to recognize defects jeopardizing safety at work. The tasks assigned to operators and technical personnel must be clearly defined by the owner. ▷ Reliable members of staff may only carry out work on/with the machine. ▷ Only deploy trained or instructed personnel. Clearly define the areas of responsibility of the operating, maintenance and repair staff. ▷ Staff who are undergoing training and instruction or general vocational training may only be permitted to work on the machine under the constant supervision of an experienced member of staff. ▷ Work on the electrical equipment of the machine may only be carried out by a qualified electrician or by trained staff under the charge and supervision of a qualified electrician in accordance with electrical engineering regulations. Qualified personnel must be aware of the requirements of the local power supply companies and must put this knowledge into practice. ▷ Only staff with special knowledge and experience with pneumatics may work on pneumatic facilities. IMPORTANT Anyone under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications affecting reactive capabilities may not assemble, start-up, operate, maintain, repair or dismantle the plant/machinery. ▷ Personal protective equipment is to be worn if necessary or stipulated by regulations. ▷ The safety and warning instructions listed in this operating manual and the warning signs mounted on the machine are to be observed. 3.1.1 Operator’s tasks • Only operate the machine if all safety/protective devices are in place and functioning • The machine may not be operated without a filter element or with a damaged filter element. • The rolls must be arrested whenever the machine is being operated. • Position the exhaust element as close as possible to the welding source and in such a way that the movement of the thermal welding fumes can be used. • The volume flow should be set according to the application; however, in such a way that the best possible exhaustion and welding seam quality is obtained.www.translas.com 9 • Make sure that the mains connecting line is not damaged by being traversed, pinched or wrenched during operation of the machine. • Regularly check the mains connecting line for any damage. The machine may not be used if the mains connecting line is damaged. • As a rule, the compressed-air supply must be connected before switching the machine on (section “Operating pressure and compressed air quality”) • Make sure that there is no conducting connection between the machine and the source of the welding current or the workpiece during operation of the machine. • Make sure that the exhaust openings are not covered or blocked to ensure free blow out during operating of the machine. • All maintenance work has to be carried out regularly (section “Maintenance”) to ensure that the machine works faultlessly. • In the event of any functional faults, shut down the machine immediately, switch off and lock respective main switch. • Report faults immediately to the respective department/person and have they rectified. CAUTION Moving machine parts can lead to minor injuries! Prior to service, maintenance and repair work: Disconnect the machine from the mains supply, i.e. pull the mains plug. Depressurize the compressed air supply. Upon completion of service, maintenance and repair work: Ensure that all safety devices have been put back into place and are functioning.Next >
